Local Family Launches Pet Wants Cincy West
Laurie and Joe Sanfillipo III’s dog Meadow has always suffered from allergies and skin issues. Sometimes, the constant scratching was enough to keep everyone up at night. They had tried everything – including all kinds of food – so when they saw how much better Meadow felt while eating Pet Wants, they knew they’d found something special.
Now Laurie and Joe, along with Joe’s parents Marty and Joe Sanfillipo Jr, are thrilled to announce that they’re bringing Pet Wants to the west side with their new business, Pet Wants Cincy West.
Pet Wants’ carefully developed proprietary pet food is slow-cooked with fresh, all-natural ingredients. The all natural dog and cat food is made in small batches once per month so every kibble is guaranteed to be fresh and packed with nutrition. Pet Wants Cincy West offers free mobile delivery to pet families in Delhi, Green Township, Western Hills, Bridgetown, Saylor Park, Miami Township, Harrison, Cleves, Colerain and Cheviot as well as the surrounding areas.
“When we heard about the Pet Wants food – including the free delivery – we thought we’d give it a shot. Our Labrador, Meadow, has terrible allergies and, 18 months ago, she got an epidural to have surgery on her ACL, but the fur where they shaved her never grew back. We saw a huge difference in Meadow after just a week of switching her food and, after two months, she had no food allergies and a full backside of fur. She’s still on medicine for some outdoor allergies, but the results we’ve seen with Pet Wants have been amazing,” Laurie said.
When Laurie’s in-laws saw similar results with their Irish Wheaton Terrier, Abby, the entire family decided it was time to educate the community about Pet Wants and bring the mobile delivery to the west side by opening a Pet Wants franchise.
“Even if your pet doesn’t suffer from any allergies or health issues, we’d love the opportunity to talk to you about the ingredients in some name brand pet foods and the shelf life of the nutrition many people are feeding their pets. We understand that Pet Wants won’t be the answer for everyone, but, honestly, even just the pure convenience of not having to go to the pet store to pick up those giant, heavy bags of food and knowing you are feeding your pet fresher, better food is enough to give Pet Wants a shot,” Laurie said. “Let us bring you a sample. We’re true Pet Wants believers and we know you will be too. Switching the Pet Wants was the best thing we ever did for Meadow.”
In addition to being made fresh monthly, Pet Wants only sources the best salmon, chicken, lamb, brown rice and other ingredients available. There’s no sugar added, no fillers and no animal by-products and Pet Wants never uses corn, wheat, soy or dyes.
The Sanfillipos are long-time business owners. For more than 40 years, USA Collision Centers has serviced the West Side of Cincinnati and been a strong supporter of the surrounding communities. Adding Pet Wants is an additional way for the Sanfillipo family to reach out to the community. Outside of the business, Laurie and Joe III love hanging out with Meadow and are active supporters of two non-profits that hold a special place in their hearts, SPCA Cincinnati and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Joe III is a board member for the SPCA Cincinnati and also serves as a board member as well as an Executive Committee member for the Tri-State Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Marty and Joe Jr enjoy spending time with their grandchildren, Drew, Lydia and Kyle, as well as their dogs, Abby and Daisy.
Pet Wants originally launched in Over-the-Rhine in 2010. Owned by Michele Hobbs, the business was built to provide proprietary crafted, fresh, slow-cooked, all-natural pet food delivered to customers through a retail store and a convenient home-delivery service. Hobbs, now the company founder, turned the business into a franchise in 2015 with the help of Franchise Funding Group, an investment and franchise-development company designed to help entrepreneurs scale their companies nationally as franchise systems.

About Pet Wants: Pet Wants was started by Michele Hobbs out of love for her pets and frustration. Veterinarians were unable to help relieve her dog’s painful skin allergies. After doing much research, Michele discovered the national dog food brand she trusted was not fresh, not all natural, and lacked sufficient nutrition...and when pet food sits in warehouses and store shelves for months and months… it loses even more nutritional value. She was committed to developing a better solution for all dogs and cats. Their food is exclusively crafted… fresh, healthy, slow-cooked and all natural with no sugar added, no fillers and no animal by-products. They source only the best salmon, chicken, lamb, brown rice, and other ingredients. Fresh ingredients make for better food… and better health for pets. And since they never use corn, wheat, soy or dyes, the common pet health problems associated with these ingredients are no longer worries. Their fresh food is conveniently delivered to the customer within weeks of production, not months. Roughly half of Pet Wants products are sold through their store and half through their convenient, home-delivery program. You can learn more at http://www.PetWants.com.
