Share These Winter Driving Tips

Hitting the roads in Cincinnati this winter? If so, you'll need to be aware and alert. We here at USA Collision Centers care about your safety, which is why we have compiled a list of our favorite driving tips for the season. Check out these winter driving tips when venturing out in cold, snowy weather.

Slow Down and Take Caution

The roads will be extra slippery and slick, so you'll definitely have to practice your patience. This is especially important if you'll be driving down any steep passes or declines. Your tires will have less traction because of the slippery conditions, which is why you'll have to take extra precaution when on the roads. Keep a safe distance from any cars in front of you. And just because it may not look slippery out, beware of “black ice”.  Extra care should be taken when driving over bridges as they freeze before roadways.

Map Out Your Destination

It can be difficult to see roadway signage when driving in whiteout conditions, so we recommend having a mapped out plan beforehand. If you know exactly where you're going and where you'll be stopping, you'll be able to drive with peace of mind.

Check the Exhaust Pipe

If your exhaust pipe becomes clogged with snow and ice, you could potentially expose you and your family to poisonous carbon monoxide. If possible, check your exhaust pipe for clogs when at rest areas during your journey.
